Summer Series Boot camps involves interval training that includes alternating short, high intensity bursts of speed with slower, recovery phases throughout a single workout. Interval training has many benefits including an increase in cardiovascular efficiency as well as boosting the metabolism, increased calorie burn, building lean muscle and increasing your tolerance to the build-up of lactic acid. According to the American College of Sports Medicine, more calories are burned in short, high intensity exercises.
Benefits of doing a boot-camp also include a sense of camaraderie with other participants, being able to push yourself harder, gaining quick results, challenging yourself with a harder workout routine, a built in support system, and not to mention a cheap way to have fun!
Each workout will include band training, ball exercises, calisthenics, plyometrics, and resistance training and will be located at local parks.
